The Beaufort National Cemetery

Project Description

Rochester & Associates contracted with various subcontractors and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs to design and oversee the $1.5 million dollar expansion of the Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, South Carolina. The expansion involved a 15 acre site north of the 49 acre existing cemetery. We were responsible for A/E services to include site evaluation, determination of requirements, recommendations, planning, consultation and visits, design work, preparation of contract drawings and specifications, preparation of cost estimates, submittals, and construction period services as necessary for demolition of the existing armory, site preparation and remediation, construction of a committal shelter and service. The cemetery is best distinguished by a landscape plan in which the burial sections are arranged in the shape of a half-circle with roads arranged like the spokes of a wheel.
